Crossover Borås

Philippa Brock

TFRC researcher Philippa Brock is off to Sweden this week presenting her work at the 18th ETN Conference: Crossover Borås hosted by the Borås Textile Fashion Centre.

Conference co-organizers are the European Textile Network, ETN, together with the Swedish Museum of Textiles and Nordic Textile Art association.

The conference aims to present a global perspective of the different textile practices and their interactions with a special focus on sustainable creativity and innovation in textile art and design.

Philippa’s talk during the ETN conference networking event will present her recent work for the Weaving Futures exhibition – which was curated by Philippa Brock and Samuel Plant Dempsey and commissioned by London Transport Museum.

The exhibition explored ideas and process led methods of designing, celebrated the use of bespoke woven moquette fabric in London Transport, and the work was made as the exhibition progressed.

Philippa will also give a lecture at the Swedish School of Textiles Borås presenting her research on: ‘Space & Volume: Textiles in The Third Dimension’. The lecture will be an overview of a series of research projects investigating the exploration of process led research approaches and the pushing of the boundaries within digital industrial jacquard loom design and engineering methods.
