Real Dirty Blue
TFRC researchers: Anne Marr, Linda Florence, Jo Pierce, Philippa Brock and Rebecca Hoyes will be presenting their work in the upcoming Real Dirty Blue exhibition. Real Dirty Blue, curated by the CSM Museum and Study Collection and teaching staff from BA Textile Design, is a glimpse into the world of textile culture at Central Saint Martins. Real Dirty Blue tells the story of almost a century of textile design at the college, from the hand block printed textiles of the 1930s to more recent experiments in multi-dimensional textiles, digital innovations and the combining of traditional techniques with new technologies.
The focus of the display is on the process behind the finished pieces – the sketchbooks, prototypes and material samples that show how the designer’s ideas have developed from initial inspirations to production.
The work on show presents 26 designers who taught or studied at the college from 1927 to 2015.
