Low Tech to High Tech
Low Tech /High Tech Community of Practice was presented at the Mini Maker Faire at London College of Communication in July 2013. Inspired by High-Low Tech, a research group at the MIT Media Lab that integrates high and low technological materials, processes, and cultures, LT/HT is an inquiry into how the arts navigate technology and how this stands to redefine craft.
Anne Marr was among 5 mixed media design practitioners and who took part, representing the ‘oldest’ practice in the group as a textile designer. This group of tinkerers partnered up with one another to exchange practice-based knowledge that helped develop new high/low tech interventions to found objects.
A booklet details these works as well as outcomes from tutorials with students pushing their own design work under the guidance of the team.
