FIREup Project Launches
The FIREup Project: Fashion Innovation Research and Enterprise launches today at London College of Fashion, bringing together a multi-diciplinary cluster of researchers from The University of the Arts London. Key members of this academic community across The Centre for Fashion Enterprise (CFE), Designer-Manufacturer Innovation Support Centre (DISC), Design Against Crime Research Centre (DACRC), Centre for Sustainable Fashion (CSF), Textile Futures Research Centre (TFRC), and Fashion Design Studio (FDS), will offer their knowledge and expertise to lead research into how the UK’s fashion industry can be well equipped to meet future potential growth within the sector. The British Fashion Council has identified key challenges that are holding back growth within the UK’s fashion industry including a lack of a formal R&D culture across the industry, limited contacts as well as weak knowledge exchange and open innovation practices. With funding from the AHRC, the FIREup project hopes to address these issues by building of a prototype online digital platform that will research new models of knowledge exchange for the industry and foster open innovation.
Please join us to celebrate the start of this exciting project and find out more about how you can be involved!
